Want your image critiqued by me?
Far be it from me to state that I’m some sort of definitive source of photographic wisdom, I can say, however, that I, like many photographers, have my own opinions regarding other people’s images. One of the greatest processes a photographer can go through is to have their images critiqued by their peers. Just to be clear, I’m not talking about the simple “great image” type of critique. My goal is to provide as accurate description and improvements as I can based on my own experience and the numerous critiques I’ve received about my work. The idea is not to scare anyone away from photography but to open their eyes to a creative process of which they may have been unaware.
With that caveat out of the way I’d like to introduce a new concept here on the blog. Leveraging Twitter and this blog, I am going to offer free critiques on images that are sent to me on Twitter using the #acpcritique hashtag. If the image is located on a site that allows comments, then I will post a link back to the critique here on my blog. My plan is to help others learn and give me more exposure to what people consider to be their best images.
If you have an image (emphasis on ONE image) you would like critiqued, please send a message on Twitter with the following text:
@whoisariston, please critique – ‘LINK TO IMAGE’ – #acpcritique #twittographers
I have a search panel setup in Tweetdeck to filter that hashtag so I can catch it and critique. Images will be critiqued on a first come, first served basis and one per follower. I would recommend using some sort of URL shortening site like http://bit.ly.
READ THIS FIRST:
First of all, only submit your original work. Do NOT submit an image for critique that you did not take yourself! Also, by requesting a critique from me, you are allowing me to post your image on my blog with a link back to the original location that was submitted. I will not steal copyright or use your image other than for critique and pointing other people to the critique. Do not get upset if you don’t like my critique. It’s exactly that, a critique, kind of like the world “critical.” Finally, I am just one photographer with a passionate desire to help others get better. I work a fulltime job, have a family and squeeze in as much photography as I can in there somewhere. As a result, it might take a while for me to get to your image. Please have patience as I go through them.
Thank you and let’s learn something together!
