2009 Daily Photos – Summary Up to Now

Seeing as how we are now half way through the year, I wanted to provide direct links to the months that have been photographed so far. I will definitely say that it has been quite a challenge keeping up with this project, but it has been rewarding. It has taught me to trust in my talents as a photographer and to open my eyes to the world and see that there is beauty everywhere. Fording myself to pick up my camera everyday in order to satisfy my self-imposed requirement has also taught me a lesson in willpower and dedication. I committed myself to this project at the beginning of the year and I have stuck with it through and through. Sometimes it has been easy…sometimes more challenging. More than once it has hit late in the night when I tell myself “crap, I forgot to take my picture for today.” At that point I grab my D300 and I fulfill my commitment. As you browse through the images, I think you will see, as I have, an improvement in technique and creativity as I stretched myself more and more to find those moments and spaces in life that were worthy of being capture by my eye.

I encourage each and everyone of you who reads this entry…commit yourself to something and do everything in your power to stick with it. It will give you a new perspective on yourself and what you are capable of accomplishing.  There 189 photos over at Photo Informatica…and there is plenty of room for more.  I invite you to visit the links below and select your favorites and leave a comment. Or, if you wish, leave a comment here. I am eager to hear about your own projects, photographic or otherwise. I would like to thank all of my friends, family and amazing Twitter followers who have helped me this far…believe me when I say I will need your help to finish off the year. Together we can do it.

Thank You!

And now for the links. Each link will take you to a subset of images for that month:

Reverse Macro – Photo Informatica

Reverse Macro - Photo Informatica

Reverse Macro - Photo Informatica

I read this article over at Digital Photography School about using a reverse adapter ring to create a cheap macro lens. Since I own a 50mm f/1.8 lens with a 52mm element, I decided to buy one. It just arrived today from Amazon and this thing is amazing! I can’t believe the type of shots I can get with this simple adapter! The image for today is a perfect example. It’s an extreme macro shot of the flowers that have been featured here on Photo Informatica. I am really looking forward to using this adapter a lot more! As a note, the EXIF data will be missing the lens and aperture information since the lens is reverse mounted. As a result, I have included the information below. The aperture needs to be set directly on the aperture ring itself. As a result the camera was in manual mode. Lens: 50mm (prime) | Aperture: f/8

Lens: N/A | Aperture: N/A | Shutter: 1/80 sec | ISO: 500

Jessika Dorian – Photo Informatica

I had a fantastic shoot with Jessika Dorian. She was very professional and really helped me learn a lot about photographing the female form. I capture this close up shot in the shower as I was standing in front of my SB-800 pointing into a shoot through umbrella. The high key lighting in the bathroom really brought out the details.

Lens: 65 mm | Aperture: f 5 | Shutter: 1/250 sec | ISO: 125

You can find more photos from this shoot over on ModelMayhem: http://www.modelmayhem.com/aristonphotog…some of the images are 18+ so you will need to be a member of the site.

If you’re interested in having photos like these taken of you, I invite you to contact me for rates and to setup a schedule. Click here and fill out a session information request form and we can work on getting something setup!

Here are a couple other images from the shoot:

As I was out shooting this morning I saw this pair of leaves that were curling in toward one another. I thought about calling it “Lovers” but seeing as how the leaves were part of the same plant, I decided to go with “Sisters.” Processing in Lightroom.

Lens: 200 mm | Aperture: f 2.8 | Shutter: 1/500 sec | ISO: 200
