Daily Internet Workflow – Part 1 – Blogs

Wikipedia defines workflow as “a depiction of a sequence of operations, declared as work of a person, work of a simple or complex mechanism, work of a group of persons,[1] work of an organization of staff, or machines.” My paricular attention is drawn to the “sequence of operations.”  When it comes to my daily routine with regards to photography and the internet, I have a fairly specific set of operations that I perform.  First, I’d like to give you details of my setup.

Browser: As a technology nut, I have no shortage of web browsers installed on my laptop. Whether it be Opera, Google Chrome, Firefox, or IE8, I am always looking for whatever solution will allow me to accomplish my goals in the most efficient manner. Although I was a big fan of Chrome for a while, it’s lack of support of Google Bookmarks for centrally managing all of my photography favorites has precluded that browser from being adequate.  As a result, Firefox is still the ultimate weapon of choice for me when it comes to browsing the web.  For extensions, I keep it simple: AdBlock Plus and All-in-One Gestures.

Bookmarks: Here’s where it gets fun.  Google Bookmarks integrated into the Toolbar allows me to maintain bookmarks whether I’m at home or at work.  I load up several different labels and open a series of pages into separate tabs in FF. Specifically,  I have several blogs of Photographers I admire that I read every morning. Here’s a list for your enjoyment.

Blogs:

Normally I’d include Chase Jarvis and Joe McNally but they are on the AllTop list which I go through and open several other tabs as well.

Stay tuned for the next post for details on the various photography forums that I visit daily! If you haven’t already, please subscribe to the blog by clicking on one of the links in the right sidebar, and as always your comments are welcomed below!
